What is the difference between an EP and a physio?
EP’s primarily treat patients using clinical exercise interventions as their main modality.
There is also a strong focus on behavioural change and self-management concepts. Physio’s are health care professionals who assess, diagnose, treat and manage acute injury, disability and pain through physical techniques such as manipulation, massage and exercise.
If I’ve used sessions elsewhere can I still see EP?
The 5 sessions that Medicare assist with can be allocated to any registered health professional. In many circumstances, your GP will suggest the assistance of 2 or more health professionals. For example: 2 sessions with a dietitian, 3 with an EP.
Also, if you are originally referred to a different provider but you would like to change you are welcome to do so. You just need to see the practice nurse to re-write the referral addressed to the new provider with the remaining sessions you have left.
Do I have to be a member of the gym/club?
No. Here at Active Fitness HQ one of the most fundamental parts of our ethos is to give back to our local community. Providing access to the best care for all of those in our area.
